Triangle Down Syndrome Network is a non-profit family support group. Our goal is support and connect families of children with Down syndrome through the organization or promotion of family activities.   We want to ensure all people with Down syndrome have happy and productive lives and are fully included in the community.

To support this goal, key elements of our mission statement are:

·        To acknowledge the diversity of all individuals by providing an open and free information exchange of traditional and alternative choices

·        To ensure and promote rights, opportunities, and well being of individuals with Down syndrome

·        To provide information, educational opportunities and support for families with individuals with Down syndrome.

·        To promote, encourage, and stimulate the education, care, treatment, socialization, vocational development, and inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome.

·        To promote community awareness and action to inform the public about Down syndrome.

·        To promote the training of competent and sensitive personnel to aid in the education, care, treatment, transitions and habilitations of individuals with Down syndrome. To promote research into areas that will enhance the quality of life and improve treatment for individuals with Down syndrome.

TDSN is proud to offer a grant program effective January 1, 2007.  This grant program will provide funding to support community awareness and activities for people with Down syndrome, their siblings, their parents, and their educators.  While activities should focus on awareness and support of people with Down syndrome, they should be all inclusive for people with all abilities.

TDSN reserves the right at any time, without prior notice to change the terms of the grant program and/or to withdraw the program altogether.

The program is restricted to the support of activities located in central North Carolina supporting the community in Raleigh , Cary , Durham and the surrounding areas.  Eligibility is restricted to not for profit organizations and/or individuals or groups which are not associated with a for-profit corporation.  Funds are not available to support the salary of any individual associated with the event.

This program is not intended to be funding for an individual to attend an event on any sort nor is it intended for funding for an individual to receive treatment or therapy.

Grants will be considered at regularly scheduled board meetings.  Grant applications should be received at least one week before the board meeting to ensure prompt review.

TDSN board will elect a board member to serve as Grant Administrator each year.  This board member will be selected at the first board meeting each new calendar year.
